For the "Forged Gallery Series".....I wanted to showcase the talent and ability of our local craftsmen. These one of a kind prints are limited to just 10 each. The process is a long one. Each step is controlled by hand and each piece truly unique. It begins with the amazing folks at Southeast Apparatus (builders of incredible, handbuilt fire trucks!) with an aluminum sheet that is sheared into the desired size by a gigantic, old school metal press......then the aluminum is hand spun using an orbital sander to achieve a texture that enhances the effect of light across the artwork. After this........the prepped aluminum substrate receives a latex, translucent/transparent film that Hinkle Printing (one of the oldest family owned, operational printer/publishers in KY) heat transfers (the artwork) into the rextured aluminum surface. Back at the studio.....I hand embellish the artwork with color and brush on a sealer. The work is finalized by Corbin, artisan Rod Taylor.....who numbers each piece and laminates the art in a gallery quality acrylic. Rod completes the artwork with custom, gun metal, hardware.
